Becky is a high school senior in the city of San Fransisco. With her friend Abby, Becky does stand up comedy a few times a week. During one event, Becky meets Kip, who seems like a very nice guy. Becky, who is not used to this kind of attention, doesn't pay much attention to his affection for her. But soon, they become inseperable. Becky is very happy with Kip, until he becomes possesive and dangerous. Kip changes from a sweet caring boyfriend to an abusive controlling maniac. Yet sometimes, Kip acts completely normal; not violent at all. When Abby and she get a chance to go on a tour of comics filmed by MTV, Becky hopes Kip will be supportive. No one can be prepared for what happens next.
I chose Faultline as one of my runner-up books because it is a interesting book that shows abusive relationships are not all black and white. Kip is only violent sometimes, so Becky is confused if she shoud stand up for herself or not. This book is a very interesting read and explores the causes and effects of abusive relationships.
